Year 9 visit to Buddhapadipa Temple
Year 9 pupils recently visited the Buddhapadipa Temple as part of their Religious Education studies on Buddhism. The visit gave students the opportunity to experience Buddhist beliefs and practices in a real-life setting beyond the classroom.
During the trip, pupils were introduced to the basics of meditation and learned how mindfulness can help Buddhists develop calmness, focus and inner peace. Students then enjoyed a guided tour around the temple grounds, where they explored the beautiful gardens, shrines and the lake.
The visit concluded with a talk from a Buddhist monk, who explained the life and teachings of the Buddha and answered pupils’ thoughtful questions about Buddhist beliefs and daily practices.
The trip was both educational and reflective, helping students deepen their understanding of Buddhism while also encouraging respect for different beliefs and cultures. Pupils represented the school extremely well throughout the visit and were praised for their behaviour and engagement.
