Below is a list of organisations in the local area that run arts clubs which are accessible for young people with SEN.
Please note these are not run by St Philip’s School and charges may apply.
We recommend parents should check the Safeguarding arrangements of any club they would like their child to attend before enrolment.
The Department for Education has published guidance for Out of School settings and you can ask the organisers if they follow the DfE Code of Practice.
After-school clubs, community activities and tuition: safeguarding guidance for providers
Details: Art classes offering a rounded education in drawing, painting and 3D modelling. Not aimed directly at young people with SEN but have an encouraging, inclusive and non-competitive approach.

Details: Free to join and no art experience necessary for young people from 12-25. Opportunity to be getting creative and experimenting with different art activities like lino printing, graffiti, and drawing in a mindful way.
Venue: Fuse Box Kingston, 2 Buckland’s Wharf, Kingston Upon Thames, KT1 1TF.
Times: Tuesdays from 5-6pm. There is an optional slot between 5-6pm where participants can receive mental health support from trained youth workers.

Details: Open to anybody over 16 living with a disability – no artistic experience is necessary. There is a nominal fee and all art materials are provided. Each group is run by a volunteer leader who is given art techniques and approaches used to encourage self-expression through creative artistic activities.

Name: Jam SENsations
Details: A specialised dance and movement class for neurodiverse children from 5+ with a fun and different theme each half term

Details: This group for young people with Downs Syndrome works on a variety of dramatic techniques from experimenting with play to improvising everyday situations. From time to time the children put on a short performance for family and friends to showcase what they have been learning.

Times: Tuesday evenings - 4.30pm for 10-14 years old & 5.30pm for 14-18 years old.

Name: The Theatre Academy: SEN Inclusive Theatre Club
Details: An informal, inclusive, fun, relaxed and welcoming experience where children play with a range of props, costumes, music and take part in a range of sensory activities. Each child must attend with a one-to-one carer/adult who will facilitate their child to participate. Venue: Leather Theatre, 7 Church Street, Leatherhead, KT22 8DN

Details: The classes are fun and engaging, skills-based workshops with termly modules. There are three groups dependent on age: Act One is Reception to Year 6. Act Two is years 7-13. Rose Young Company is year 7 upwards and by audition only.
