Our crew in the Great River Race

By Fiona Wilkins - September 10th, 2024 | Posted in Article

We are very excited that staff and pupils will be taking part in the Great River Race on Saturday 21st September in The Royal Shallop Jubilant as part of our 70th anniversary celebrations. The Great River Race is an event for traditional boats powered by a minimum of four oars or paddles on the River Thames. In the tradition of the Watermen’s role as the taxi drivers of the River Thames, each boat must carry a passenger.

We have been associated with Skerries for Schools for 10 years which has enabled our pupils to experience rowing on the River Thames. Over the years we formed a close bond with a huge advocate of youth rowing, Robin Corti. Sadly Robin passed away earlier this year after his battle with cancer. So our crew will be rowing in Robin’s memory and fundraising for the Royal Marsden Hospital in his memory.
