New Equipment for Primary Playground

The primary classes were delighted to return to school after the Easter break to a newly refurbished playground complete with swing, trampoline, roundabout and other play equipment. The pupils have been enjoying playing outside on the new equipment which has been installed behind the Primary classrooms.

The new playground was funded by the Children with Special Needs Foundation. The Foundation was set up by Ann and Gordon Parris many years ago. They are amazing fund raisers and are supported by a fabulous committee of Trustees.  They visited the school last year and were so impressed with St Philip’s that they wanted to help us.

They donated four sports wheelchairs to the school which have been a big hit with the students, who have been using them in their PE lessons. They have proved particularly useful in the Sports Leader lessons where they are used to encourage the students to adapt their sessions for wheelchair users.

Following on from this initial gift, the Trustees pledged a very generous donation which enabled us to complete the primary playground project so that it was up and running so quickly.

The school would like to say a massive thanks to the Foundation for their on-going support.
