Progress for students is tracked carefully from their starting point at St Philip’s every term against national curriculum learning intentions, recorded on Arbor, as well as EHCP outcomes. We also use a range of other assessment tools to measure progress in maths and English each year to review spelling, reading, comprehension and numeracy.
We measure students’ progress in holistic outcomes through an annual Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQs).
Students work towards a broad range of qualifications over time, developing the skills they need to have success in public examinations.
Pupils in key stage 2 are typically working at levels which are at least two years below the national average and as a result are not expected to sit formal exams. If a pupil is working at or around Age-Related Expectations they would be considered for end of key stage 2 assessments. Decisions about who takes part are made on an individual basis, taking into account each pupil’s Special Educational Needs. This personalised approach means outcomes can vary from year to year.
KS2 Assessment Outcomes
Our cohorts are small and include students with a range of additional needs. Not all pupils will have previously had access to the full national curriculum and some may face barriers in accessing standardised tests, even with appropriate support. As a result, these outcomes should be viewed within the context of individual needs and personalised learning pathways.
We place strong emphasis on recognising each students’ progress and achievements beyond statutory assessments, ensuring that all learners are supported to succeed.
We are extremely proud of our students with the results they have achieved and equally as proud of the destinations they have gone on to.
