Inspiring trips to the Tate Art Galleries

By Fiona Wilkins - February 21st, 2024 | Posted in Article

Over the last couple of weeks pupils in both year 7 and year 10 have been enjoying trips to the Tate art galleries in London.

Year 10 pupils, who are studying for their GCSE Art, visited the ‘Capturing the Moment’ exhibition at Tate Modern.  Featuring artworks from Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Paul Rego the exhibition explored the boundaries between painting and photography.

Pupils in 7M visited Tate Britain to take part in a relaxed workshop with the artist Andrew Omoding from Action Space.  A relaxed workshop is intended for groups with additional needs and is adapted by having extra staff support and flexible timings to suit the needs of pupils.   For the workshop, Andrew Omoding (an artist with a learning disability) designed a session which interweaved storytelling, music, and costume in response to artworks in the Tate Britain collection. Andrew was a great inspiration and role model for the pupils.
