Christmas Enterprise Market
At the end of the Autumn term, we once again held our Christmas Market in school. It is a hugely popular event with pupils and staff and this year raised an amazing £1000 that will be donated to charity and will fund a reward trip for the top three teams who made the most money.
This is primarily an Enterprise event and an opportunity for class groups to brainstorm ideas of how to make the most money. Each year, every form group is given an initial £10 investment, and they are challenged to design a stall concept to generate the most money from this investment. We have found that this really helps to spark an interest with our budding-business men and women, as well as teaching them the key concepts to run a successful start-up business.
Food stalls are always popular but there are also some wonderfully creative ideas including arts and crafts stalls, games and activities. The tombola and lucky dip stalls were extremely popular with students but other novel ideas were the tin can alley featuring members of staff where you could choose tin cans featuring the staff you wanted to try to knock over by throwing bean bags. There was also Guess the Number of Sweets in a jar and the DIY art stall where you could make your own work of art by rolling a marble coated around in a tray lined with paper.
The Christmas Market is also a chance for pupils to spend some money, buy gifts, eat food and socialise at the end of term. There was a real buzz about the hall, and we were so impressed with our enterprising students.
Thanks to all the local businesses who donated to the event and to our families for their support. One of the winning teams has already put in their request for a trip to Nando’s as a reward for their endeavours. Well done everyone!
