Beat Box Workshop

Year 7 class pupils went to Battersea Arts Centre to take part in a Beatboxing workshop as part of our participation in the I AM Festival. The pupils were introduced to beat boxing which is a way of mimicking the sounds of drums using your voice. They very quickly got up to speed and were able to produce various sounds and rhythms in groups and some were even brave enough to conduct or perform a solo.

This event was one of a number of activities across the whole school as part of Arts Week. We joined Year 7 pupils from another special school, Garratt Park, who are based in Wandsworth for the workshop and enjoyed getting to know these young people in the workshop.

Our week ties in with the I AM Festival  which is a yearly celebration empowering D/deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent young people to explore their creativity. Over the past five years, the festival has provided a platform for hundreds of young people to showcase their talents, leadership, ideas, and opinions.
